So, how does one garner national media attention from It was a sunny Sunday afternoon as 4,466 passengers and crew swarmed onto one of Carnival's biggest ships, ready for a fun-filled 7 day tour of Mexico. Along for the ride was Chipper and several other top-notch magicians - Many of whom have starred in BLiNK! over the years. The magic stars were part of a special magic conference which was taking place on board the cruise, along with the rest of the cruisers. Just before the ship left Long Beach, California, a large metal cart carrying passenger luggage fell off a forklift, sending 40 pieces of baggage over the side railing and into the bay below. After a few futile attempts at retrieving the bags with a long pole, the crew finally lowered one of their safety boats and scooped up the rest of the 'bobbers'. Those that were left that is, since about 30 of them had already sunk into the ocean deep. Yikes! A sign of things to come?... 6AM on Monday morning an electrical fire broke out in the engine room. Within seconds the sound of metal gears grinding could be heard throughout the ship, waking everyone up. A few minutes later a burning smell swept through all of the cabins. Complete power outage -- no lighting, refrigeration, elevators, water, toilets, etc. Those with 'inside' cabins were now in 100% complete darkness. An emergency generator kicked in, providing emergency lighting to only the public areas, dining rooms and hallways. But despite the situation, everyone made the most of it and the crew went beyond the call of duty providing fantastic service and breakfast, lunch & dinner each and every day. This is even more amazing when you consider that they had to haul food & drinks up and down the main staircases continuously since their own crew elevators were also disabled. Bravo and applause to them all! Cell phones and laptops were quickly depleted of power over the next five days, and emergency food and supplies were being dropped by helicopter from the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan carrier a quarter mile away. With the ships, planes, and copters circling the cruiseship, it all felt like they were filming the next "DIE HARD" movie. : ) By 5pm, all the passengers were delivered to several hotels in the area where they enjoyed hot showers and hot meals for the first time in several days. A special, full-evening magic show was quickly planned and produced for that evening - open to everyone who had endured the Carnival Splendor. The show featured a 'Who's Who' of magic stars and Chipper was asked to be the closing act with his award-winning comedy & magic to cap off the incredible evening of entertainment. The packed audience had a great time and responded with a standing ovation. Nice! The cruise was a unique experience to be sure, but a surprisingly fun one as well. And despite the news reports around the world claiming that only "Spam & Pop Tarts" were being delivered and fed to the stranded & starving masses, all of the passengers were actually served a nonstop, delicious variety of sandwiches, pasta, salads, desserts, By Friday afternoon, almost all the cruisers were on their way to their own various destinations, by car, bus and plane. Within 5 hours of returning to Los Angeles, Chipper was soon flying to New Zealand for a 4-week tour with the "World Festival Of Magic" - traveling to 16 cities and 34 performances in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

This was the first television series fully devoted to presenting magic with no camera tricks or edits. The show ran for 4 years - 1960 to 1964, and inspired many of today top magicians including Lance Burton, Seigfried & Roy and David Copperfield.

After a 15 hour flight to Aussieland, Chipper toured all over the east coast of Australia, including the island of Tasmania. Crowds were fantastic and the two-week tour of performing arts centers and theaters was a complete success! BLiNK! heads to northern California for performances at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto, and the Sunset Center for the Arts in Carmel-by-the-Sea. This high energy shows stars Chipper, as well as special guest artists including the magic of Jade, comedy magician Oscar Munoz, and the grand illusions of Murray Hatfield and Teresa from Canada.
