This year has already been a fun and crazy one!  Corporate events on both coasts, tour dates of my solo “The Chipper Experience! – Where COMEDY & MAGIC Collide!” at theaters and performing arts centers.   Opening for Jay Leno multiple times.   And jumping onto Disney cruise ships as well as Virgin cruise lines.  Coming up, I’ve got a two-week run in LAKE TAHOE, CA, where I’ll be bringing my show to the wonderful and intimate LOFT THEATER.  Then, headlining the legendary MAGIC CASTLE in Hollywood!  Followed by shows at MARVYN’S MAGIC THEATER in La Quinta/Palm Springs area, The COMEDY & MAGIC CLUB in Hermosa Beach, and finally flying up for an ALASKAN CRUISE for DISNEY out of VANCOUVER, BC!

Let me explain.

In September of 2025, we premiered my newest show, which is an eclectic blend of family stories and hilarious magic moments throughout.  The ‘stories’ were, to put it mildly, pretty unusual and offbeat.  Why?  Because my parents were circus performers, having met each other on Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus back in the 1950s, while they were both working on the show, touring across the country.   Yep! My Dad was a professional circus clown and my Mom was an aerialist!  And I wanted to capture what it was like being part of a ‘showbiz’ family that literally traveled around the world at least a dozen times while I was growing up.    The tales are often hilarious and strange and 100% TRUE!

And best of all, I can bring the RECEIPTS!  Meaning, this special show is filled to the brim with hundreds of photos as part of the production’s multimedia presentation, helping to bring all of these true damn funny anecdotes to life!    It’s basically a love letter to my amazing parents and my own unusual upbringing, warts and all!    And if that weren’t enough, there’s also a surprise mix of jaw-dropping stage magic and audience interaction layered on top!    A pretty fun, wild roller coaster of a ride!

When the show first premiered, it received glowing reviews and standing ovations, which I’m so grateful for, as this project is extremely near and dear to my heart.  And even with the amazing reactions, I still wanted to continue working on this theatrical piece, busy with rewrites and updates here and there, and even finding more personal family photos to share with audiences as the evening unfolds onstage.

So, I’m VERY excited to tell you that we were asked to present the show at the Haugh Performing Arts Center (at Citrus College, Glendora, CA) , as part of their 2025-2026 series, and we quickly said yes!  They had caught the original production, loved it, and have been so incredibly supportive of this work.  Such a joy to be able to bring this show to their beautiful venue this coming January of 2026.  Yay!!!!!!   🙂

So, get your tickets as soon as possible!   I promise you a most interesting, hilarious and heartfelt evening.  One to remember for a long time.

I keep thinking things will slow down a bit year after year.  I guess I’m forever optimistic, but at the same time, I’m also grateful for new adventures and creative challenges.   My folks passed away in 2020, just as the pandemic was in full swing.    The silver lining with everything closing down and my touring schedule cancelled was that I was able to spent each and every day with my folks during those final months.   After they were gone, the family had literally hundreds of cases and boxes to go through and organize.  And every day was filled with cool discoveries about their lives, their careers, and raising my brother and me.    We found so many photos, slides, and memorabilia sparking memories galore and hilarious stories and anecdotes as well.

Originally I had serious thoughts of writing a book about their lives and the fact that I was a second-generation performers as well.  But with everything we gathered I slowly realized that these stories belonged on stage.   And so with that, the new show was born!

Season 10 of MASTERS OF ILLUSION is currently airing on the CW Network!   I’ve been honored to be part of this hit television series for all 10 seasons, and should you miss any of my guest appearances, (usually 4-6 episodes per season.), all of them are available for viewing on the CW’s official website.   (You may also catch several performance videos here on this website, or my “Corporate Comedy Magic” website:   www.CorporateComedyMagic.com.)

Finally, just a few weeks ago, I was gobsmacked to hear that I had once again been nominated for “Stage Magician of the Year!” by the Academy of Magical Arts (aka the “Magic Castle”) in Los Angeles, CA.   A good friend of mine received the award this year, which I was very happy about.  Bravo, Arthur!    This was the fourth time I’ve been nominated in the last 8-9 years, and I want to thank everyone who voted for me!   I’ll continue to create new pieces of magic, as it’s what I love doing the most, second to performing LIVE onstage.   Nothing but gratitude!!

As we head into the last months of 2023, I can’t help but look back and be thankful for a wonderful roller coaster of tour dates, corporate shows and special events.   If that weren’t enough, we taped Season 10 of MASTERS OF ILLUSION on the CW network back in JAN/FEB and it’s now airing on Monday nights on the network for the next 5-6 months.   I created new pieces of magic for that wonderful series, and I can’t believe I’ve been a guest star of the show for all 10 seasons!  Wow!

One word:  Gratitude.

And yes, as with everyone else roaming this planet, there were ups and downs, trials and tribulations, but there is always a way to look at things with a sense of gratitude and sincere thankfulness to those silver linings that pop up even in the worst of times.   I try to live by a sense of gratitude every day, because life is short and the only way to truly live your best life is by trying to help those around us, hopefully making things better for all.

During this year, I continued working with Disney Cruise Lines, bringing my solo show to their spectacular Walt Disney Theaters onboard their highly unique ships.   Most of this past summer I traveled to Canada and Alaska for Disney, and the passengers were so wonderful!  Fantastic audiences every cruise!!!  And Thank you all for the many thoughtful rave reviews and comments, both in person and online.  Wow!

Gratitude.

I’ve been having fun creating some brand new pieces especially designed for those performances, including a unique slide show segment talking about my Mom and Dad’s careers in show business, and my brother and I traveling around the world with them.   The Disney connection is very cool when it comes to our family, because near the beginning of my career I performed at Disneyland in Anaheim for 4 years before appearing in casino shows in Atlantic City, Lake Tahoe, and Las Vegas.  And my Dad worked at Disneyland starting wayyyyyyyyyy back in 1962, initially as a skipper on the Jungle Cruise ride, and then the Tiki Room, before moving up the ladder into Administration and eventually the Entertainment Dept.  A few years later he was working for the Disney Company at the New York World’s Fair, and a few years later our whole family toured with the mega arena show, DISNEY ON PARADE, globetrotting across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Australia and New Zealand.  Pretty cool stuff.  (But as a kid I just assumed that EVERY KID traveled on shows all over the world.  LOL!  What did I know?  🙂 )

My tours on land were also quite fun and a reminder what I missed out on during the pandemic shut down.  We were STILL wrapping up dates that had been postponed more than once during that time.   Audiences were so appreciative, and I felt like a kid in a candy store.

As I write this, I’m wrapping up a two-week run in beautiful Lake Tahoe.  The weather is turning cold, and there were a little snow flurries here and there, but the Loft Theater has been filled to the brim each and every show.   After this, I jump on another Disney cruise, and then wrap up the rest of the year with a series of corporate and holiday shows.

Before I end this particular blog, I have to tell you about meeting one of my huge idols ever!   None other than the legend himself, Mr. Dick Van Dyke!!!   I couldn’t believe it!   He’s a young 97 years of age, and still smart and sharp as as whip!  We were able to chat briefly about physical comedy and my Dad’s career in the ’50s as one of the ‘old school’, classic clowns on Ringling Bros. But I’m also extremely grateful.  This year started out with a BANG – bringing my show to the Bird Cage Theater at Knott’s Berry Farm to help celebrate their New Year’s Eve festivities.  Packed audiences and a LOT of fun!  This was directly followed by 25 shows at the legendary MAGIC CASTLE in Los Angeles, and a show in Bakersfield.  Then onto NYC for 5 days and then home for another show this Saturday.  I’ll then fly out to Florida for 4 tour dates, and continue on into the rest of the year.  In addition to calendar looking a LOT ‘healthier’ than it did in 2020, I’m also celebrating the premiere of Season 9 of Masters Of Illusion on the CW Network.  I’ll be making 4-5 appearances this season with all-new magic that I whipped up in my noggin for all to enjoy!  We taped all of the shows last year, and the new season rolls out on FEB. 11th.  WHOO HOO!!!

Also during 2023, I’ll be jumping onto Disney Cruises over the summer, bringing my show to their main Walt Disney Theatre.  Such a beautiful, state-of-the-art venue!  Plus a terrific crew to work with!  Disney audiences are stellar and I have so much fun that it’s hard to call it ‘work’.  And if all that weren’t enough, there’s a few more ‘surprises’ that will be popping up over the next couple of months of which I can’t say anymore.   So….stay tuned….maybe??  🙂

Last but not least, we’re now booking November and December for corporate and special events.  Yep, those dates tend to fill up quickly, so if you’re planning something special and would like your attendees to be thoroughly entertained and laughing and happy, just send us an email.  We’ll do the rest!  We strive to make your event a memorable one!

Okay, okay, one more thing:  THANK YOU!  I’m forever filled with gratitude for everyone who books my show, buys tickets, sends me nice and thoughtful emails and messages.  It means the world to me!!  And I’ll continue to hold up my end of the bargain…to continue to create new material and mind-boggling moments of ‘what the heck?!?!?!’ 🙂   May your 2023 be everything you hope for, and I send you all big mushy hugs, with none of the awkwardness.  CHEERS!

To say this has been ‘quite a year’ is probably the understatement of a lifetime. As most of the world knows (unless you’re living in the rain forest with no wifi), a deadly virus swept over the planet and wound up closing many of those places we like to socially gather, from churches to theaters to sports arena to shopping malls. Depending upon where you live, and if you’re surrounded by people who DO wear masks or those that don’t (“It’s my freedom!!!” Ugh.), your area will be affected differently.

As for me, all of my tour dates were cancelled and I was stuck at home for a good 6+ months. Got a lot of writing done, enjoyed time with the family, cooked more at home than I’ve done over the last 20 years, and it was an interesting time. Sadly, I also lost both my parents this year. But if there is any kind of silver lining to this pandemic it was that I was able to be HOME, living only minutes away from them, and I was given the opportunity to help and take care of them during their finals months on the planet. And for that, I’m forever thankful for this strange year. My Mom and Dad passed away, peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, in their own home. We were able to tell them how much we loved them, and they were able to tell us just how proud they were of all of us. It was a beautiful moment in its own unique way.

During this time, I’ve been busy producing “ZOOM” shows for corporate clients and other special events, and also creating a new show format for Knott’s Berry Farm theme park for their October multi-week event. It wound up selling out so quickly that more dates were added, twice! And those sold out as well within 48 hours! The show is called “Prof. Mayhem’s Pseudo-Scientific Deceptions of the Absurd!” and it’s a lot of fun. Part Mad Scientist and part Midnight horror TV host, I get to play on stage, outdoors, several times a night. A cool mix of comedy and magic and even some dangerous juggling stunts. Masks are required and all tables are socially distance, providing a truly safe environment to enjoy some entertainment outside of the usual Netflix back home.

Most of my tour dates have been moved to the latter half of 2021, which is also good news. Meanwhile, my plate is full, both with projects and absolute gratitude. Thankful for the family and friends around me, and blessed that we can still find humor in the situation, no matter how awful it may first seem to be. I sincerely hope you are finding the lighter side of things during this, the darkest of years. It really always comes down to this. Things are what you make of them. So I humbly invite you to get creative, expand your horizons, and make the most of this situation. Come out of it on the other end with incredible epiphanies, dazzling discoveries, and hopeful encounters. We’re all in this together! Cheers!

Excited to be returning to the James R. Armstrong Theatre on MARCH 15th! – Two performances!  2PM & 7PM !!!

We’ve recently wrapped up filming Season 7 of ‘Masters Of Illusion’, which still start airing over the summer on Friday nights on the CW network, and I’ve been touring and doing theatres across the U.S., so it will be nice to head back to sunny California for a few weeks.   Tickets are now on sale for my two shows at the Armstrong, so make sure to grab them while you can.

Also was gobsmacked this morning (Wednesday) to find that I was nominated for “Stage Magician of the Year!” by the Academy of Magical Arts (aka The Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA).  Whaaaat???   Nice!  This is my third time and I’m extremely honored for the nod, and appreciative for all those who voted for me.   The awards extravaganza will take place in May and I’ll keep you posted.   I know it’s an old cliche, but I’m just happy to have been nominated.   Cheers!

By the way, the show Torrance shows at the Armstrong will feature not only some of my signature routines and audience favorites, but also quite a few new surprises in store!    Hope you can make it!
